چکیده

ABSTRACT: The pelvis, formed by the ilium, ischium and pubis, forms coxal, which is largest of flat bones skeleton, with an important role in physiology birth. Vastly studied domestic animals, there still much to be investigated regarding anatomical classification wild mainly aiming improve understanding reproductive management species. Tamandua tetradactyla one these species morphological studies are scarce, especially when it comes aspects. In this context, we carried out pelvimetry T. using radiographic images anatomically obstetrically classify pelvis species, classifying as dolicopelvic, evidence homoscedasticity samples. Verification existence a relationship between variables statistical method Pearson coefficients showed positive correlations high intensity for diameters (P < 0.01). Thus, believed that our findings may support future

Vascularization of the small intestine in lesser anteaters, Tamandua tetradactyla (Xenarthra: Myrmecophagidae)

The blood supply in the small intestine of seven Tamandua tetradactyla (Linnaeus, 1758), was studied. The method included preparation of the macroscopic collection report, perfusion of the arterial network with water (40°C), injection of colored latex (Neoprene 650®, 2350-0003 Suvinil® dye), fixation in formaldehyde (10%), and preservation in ethanol (50%). For description and analyzes, dissect...

Placentation in the anteaters Myrmecophaga tridactyla and Tamandua tetradactyla (Eutheria, Xenarthra)

BACKGROUND Since Xenarthra are serious candidates for being basal to Eutheria, their characteristics, e.g. the placental system, influence perceptions of evolution. However, in the subgroup containing the anteaters, data are very limited. The present study aims to elucidate the nature of the feto-maternal interface in the anteater placenta and to interpret these data within an evolutionary cont...

Spatial pattern of adaptive and neutral genetic diversity across different biomes in the lesser anteater (Tamandua tetradactyla)

The genes of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) code for proteins involved in antigen recognition and activation of the adaptive immune response and are thought to be regulated by natural selection, especially due to pathogen-driven selective pressure. In this study, we investigated the spatial distribution of MHC class II DRB exon 2 gene diversity of the lesser anteater (Tamandua tetra...
